On July 24, 2010 600 Theological Ethicists from 72 countries arrived in Trento Italy (seat for the Council of Trent 1545-1563) for the Second Cross Cultural Conference on Catholic Theological Ethics.  For the next 4 days we heard 30 plenary presentations and 240 concurrent papers.  We discussed the way Trent in particular and history in general have shaped the moral tradition and the present challenges of health care around the world as well as the politics of urban life, international development, and civil strife.  We looked at the future: at notions of the family, gender, sustainability, economics, racism, migration and citizenship.  The plenary papers are being edited by the conference chair, Jim Keenan, and will be published by Orbis as "Catholic Theological Ethics, Past, Present, and Future: The Trento Conference."
