Institut de Théologie de la Compagnie de Jésus, Abidjan

Institut de Théologie de la Compagnie de Jésus – (Jesuit Institute of Theology)

Abidjan, Ivory Coast

Contact: Bienvenue Mayemba, SJ,

The Institut de Théologie de la Compagnie de Jésus is ready and willing to welcome and host any CTEWC recommended and/sponsored international visiting scholars (professors and/or researchers).

The Institut would happily support their accommodation (housing and food), their basic health needs, and provide them with working spaces while they would be teaching and/or doing research in the Institut.

They would be provided with air-conditioned single bedrooms (bathroom, toilet, hot water, filtered water, and tap water included), library and internet access cards, laundry machines service and Jesuit residents’ shuttle mini-van ride to the nearest major train station. A 24h/24h Wifi is available as well as a good library (the best library in the West African region).

A spouse is invited to stay with the visiting professor, especially for those planning a short term stay (with the understanding that an extra twin bed would be provided, as we have no double beds).  For those who would be planning to stay for a semester or a year with their (non-teaching) spouses, we would deal with it case by case and we would discuss it with those involved as this would required an additional commitment from us.

The Institut is located in Abidjan, the capital of Ivory Coast–a very intellectual, cultural and religious city, whose dynamism and vibrant life rhythm makes it the most attractive city of West Africa and of Francophone Africa. The Institut is in one of the new and fast-growing suburbs of such an appealing city.

The CTEWC Visiting Professor would be part of our newly established Fabien Eboussi International Visiting Professor and Researcher Program, which is a branch of our newly inaugurated international office, the International Network and Global Partnership. The active participation of the Visiting Professors to the life and activities of the Institut would grant them the status of International Associate Researchers in the Center for African Studies and Intercultural Dialogue.
